How much does a kitchen remodel cost in Ireland?
€4,500 to €10,000 for a budget or flat-pack kitchen, €9,000 to €20,000 for a mid-range one and €13,500 to €35,000 for high-specification or bespoke, fitted. Keeping the units and changing the doors and worktop is €1,350 to €4,000.
Kitchen remodel or refresh: which do I need?
A refresh keeps the units you have and changes what you see: a respray from €700 for a small kitchen, or new doors and a worktop for €1,350 to €4,000. A remodel replaces the units, and is the one to price if they're damaged or the layout doesn't work. Every refresh option.
Is the Studio picture what my kitchen will look like?
It's a preview drawn by AI on your own photo, so you can see a look before anyone measures. It isn't a design drawing or a promise of the finished kitchen.
How accurate is the estimator?
It shows our price guide for the job you pick. It isn't a quote: a fitter prices your kitchen after measuring it.
How long does a kitchen remodel take?
Fitting takes three to seven days on site. With tiling, plumbing and electrics it's two to three weeks, and from first design to finished, four to eight weeks. Every job, timed.
Will I be without a kitchen?
For the days the old one comes out and the new one goes in: usually a week, a little longer with a stone worktop, which is templated once the units are in. Set up a kettle and a microwave in another room.
Do I need planning permission?
Not for work inside the house, as a rule: interior works are exempted development unless the house is a protected structure. Taking out a wall still needs a structural engineer.
Is the work guaranteed?
Ask for the guarantee in writing before you agree a price: what it covers (units, doors, hinges, worktop, workmanship) and for how long. Electrical work comes with a registered electrician's certificate.
Do these prices include VAT?
Treat them as a guide and ask for VAT to be shown on the written price. The family-kitchen figure of €15,000 to €25,000 includes it.
Who will ring me?
One kitchen fitter who covers your area. Your number isn't sent to a list. They ring you within one working day, ask about the kitchen and what's changing, and measure it before giving you a written price. Nothing is booked until you say yes.
Do I need planning permission to knock the wall between my kitchen and dining room?
Internal wall removal does not require planning permission unless the house is a Protected Structure. However, because internal walls in Irish semi-detached and terraced homes often support upstairs joists or a chimney breast, a structural engineer must size the RSJ steel beam and sign a Certificate of Compliance for your house deeds.
What order do the different specialists work in during a full kitchen remodel?
A full remodel follows a strict sequence: 1) isolate gas/electrics and strip out the old kitchen, 2) prop and install the RSJ steel beam if knocking through, 3) first-fix plumbing, island power and extractor ducting, 4) plaster walls and level the floor, 5) fit cabinets and laser-template stone worktops, and 6) second-fix appliances, splashbacks, flooring and decoration.
Should I hire my own builder, plumber and electrician or let one kitchen remodel company coordinate them?
On a complex remodel involving a wall knock-through, moving the sink, rewiring for an induction hob and plastering, having one company coordinate the carpenter, Safe Electric electrician, RGII plumber, plasterer and tiler avoids gaps between stages where one contractor waits on another.
How long does a full kitchen knock-through and remodel take from rip-out to completion?
A straightforward kitchen replacement on the same walls takes 5 to 8 working days (plus 5 to 8 days if waiting on templated quartz stone). A full remodel that knocks through to the dining room with an RSJ steel beam, rewire, replaster and new tiled floor typically runs 3 to 4 weeks on site.
Can my existing gas boiler stay in the kitchen when we remodel?
Yes — modern kitchen ranges include ventilated boiler housing units with removable service panels that hide a wall-hung gas boiler neatly inline with your wall cupboards, or an RGII installer can relocate the boiler to the utility room or attic during first-fix plumbing.
What contingency budget should I hold back on a structural kitchen remodel?
Keep 10% to 12% of the budget aside for items that only become visible once the old cabinets and wall tiles are stripped off — such as an old fuse board needing an RCBO upgrade, damp plaster on an external solid wall, or an uninsulated concrete floor step between the kitchen and dining room.
